Information & Outreach Support Services (For Patients and Carers)
A drop-in information centre is provided to support those who have been touched by cancer or palliative conditions; or for those who just want information on cancer awareness, prevention and screening.
A telephone support service is also offered. Someone who you can discuss your concerns with, in confidence will be on hand to lend a friendly listening ear.
Aims of the service
To provide free up to date information on cancer and palliative conditions to patients,
their families and their carers; supporting them through their journeyTo enable patients, their families and their carers to express their emotions and needs
in a supportive environmentTo ensure patients, their families and their carers receive equal access to information taking into account patients’ social, spiritual, cultural and ethnic needs
To provide care and support at different locations throughout the borough of Walsall
To provide practical information and support to patients, their families and their carers to help reduce the fear and uncertainty of living with cancer or a palliative condition
Services offered
A comprehensive range of information leaflets that you can browse or take away
Supervised access to the internet
Information on local and national support groups
Assistance in accessing services provided by other organisations e.g. Benefits Advice, signpost to other health professionals
Assistance in accessing other NHS services e.g. Complementary Therapies
Language support for speakers of Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu
Outreach Service offering one to one support, home visits, hospital visits, accompanied hospital appointments or treatments
Walsall BAME Ladies Breast Cancer Support Group available
The service is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. Evening appointments are available on request. The service is closed on public holidays.
