After your procedure

After your procedure you will be transferred from our endoscopy room to the recovery area.

During this time the nursing staff will monitor your observations and ask you about any discomfort you may have.  They will offer you refreshments (if you have not had local anaesthetic) and go through any information required before your discharge.

If you have any questions before leaving the department then do not hesitate to ask. We will go through the findings with you on the day, and you will receive a copy of your endoscopy report. However, if we were required to take biopsies or other forms of samples these can take a few weeks to get the results of.

Once discharged, if you experience any problems or symptoms following your procedure between the opening hours of 8.30pm to 5.30pmMonday to Friday, please contact the endoscopy department on 01922 721172 ext. 7085.

If out of hours you can call 111 at any time or in an emergency 999, you will need to explain what procedure you have had done and what your new symptoms are. If in any doubt please go to A&E.
