Families will be bowled over at the chance to catch Walsall NHS staff taking part in a charity cricket match this Bank Holiday Monday.
As well as watching teams go up against each other, there’s plenty of fun on offer including a bouncy castle, children’s entertainment and traditional cobs and strawberries and cream.
The event is taking place at Hammerwich Cricket Club in Burntwood and has been organised through Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity. Proceeds from the day will go towards a charity appeal to refurbish the anaesthetic room in Paediatrics Theatre 11 at Walsall Manor Hospital.
Special guest on the day will be Coach Imran Qadir from the Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy. Imran has played at various levels including the Pakistan Under-15 and Under-19 teams and has more than 15 years of experience in England league cricket. As a seasoned coach, he has had the opportunity to work with internationally recognised players and is dedicated to coaching England’s Under-15 cricket players.
The event runs from 11am until 4pm and entry costs just £2 per person. The club’s bar will be open too and Ruby Doo Events will delight young visitors with entertainment from 12noon until 1pm.
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We’re really looking forward to Well Wishers’ first Cricket Family Fun Day and it should be a great event for all ages this Bank Holiday.
“We’re raising money for a great cause – to transform the anaesthetics room in our Paediatrics Theatre 11 to make surgery less daunting for our brave young patients. Entry fees are low at just £2 each so it’s an affordable treat and the weather forecast isn’t looking too bad either.
“Good luck to all of our staff who are taking part and supporting our charity in this way.”
The club is in Burntwood Road, Hammerwich, Burntwood, WS7 0JQ.
