A new app to support cancer patients through their diagnosis and treatment has been launched at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
The MySunrise Cancer Companion app provides a range of informative content including bespoke videos personalised to Walsall services. The aim is to introduce patients to their cancer team and the range of services available in the Walsall area.
As well as a detailed introduction to the hospital where they may receive treatment, the app provides patients with direct phone numbers to contact local specialist teams, as well as introducing support services such information and resource hub, support groups, and wellbeing events in their area.
Kelly Morris, Macmillan Living With Beyond Care Personalised Care Facilitator at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We are excited to introduce the MySunrise Cancer Companion app to our patients as a meaningful additional resource to support them and their families through cancer diagnosis and treatment.
“This resource is fully individualised to our Trust and features interviews with our staff and patients, as well as lots of information about our teams, our facilities, and other resources and support available locally.
“We believe the MySunrise app will be a hugely valuable tool for patients, supporting them through every step of their cancer treatment journey and improving the overall experience for them and their families.”
George Brighton, Director and Co-Founder of MySunrise, said: “We are excited to be launching the MySunrise Cancer Companion App at the Trust. This is a free resource for patients and their families to help support them through their cancer treatment.
“It’s been designed in partnership with the Cancer Services team at the Trust and includes a whole range of local information and links to give patients everything they need to help them through this difficult time. We’ve had some great feedback from patients and continue to seek the views of those using it to improve the app for the communities of Walsall.”
MySunrise is a free to download patient information app for Apple iOS and Android devices.
