Parents-to-be have an opportunity to be better prepared for their new arrivals thanks to a new monthly workshop being run by a Walsall Community Midwife.
Angela Evans, who has been a Midwife for almost 20 years, is running the free sessions at Walsall Manor Hospital with the first one taking place this Sunday 2 March from 10am-1pm.
The Parent Education Workshops are aimed at women who are 28 weeks pregnant or more and their partners or supportive friend/family member.
Angela, who has worked at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust for four years, said: “Becoming a parent is a real adventure with some lovely moments and experiences as well as some challenges as any mum and dad will tell you.
“I want these sessions to help prepare new parents for this exciting new chapter in their lives and give them confidence to make informed choices that are the best ones for their family. The workshops will be interactive with a variety of activities and visual aids to discuss and digest the subjects of labour, birth and the immediate postnatal period. Parents only need attend once to gain all information on all of the topics discussed.”
Angela added: “I’m passionate about Parent Education and supporting families with their transition into parenthood. We will cover a host of topics including signs of labour, pain relief options and breastfeeding and I look forward to welcoming mums and dads-to-be.”
