A kind-hearted fundraiser has handed over £1,770 for Walsall Healthcare’s Cancer Services in memory of her friend, a former cancer patient.
Susan Sutton arranged a charity night in memory of her friend Louise Campbell who would have turned 50 this year but died at the age of 34.
The event was originally planned for 2020 but had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic however, she managed to run a tombola at Walsall Manor Hospital which raised £132.
In a joint effort with her partner Darren and his daughter Natalie, Susan reorganised the charity night to go ahead this year. It took place at James Bridge Copper Social Club in Walsall and there were artists who kindly came to sing for free as well as raffles.
Susan said: “We decided to donate the money raised from the tickets and raffles to the cancer department at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust in memory of Louise. We would like to thank all our family and friends for their generous support.”
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager said: “It is so lovely to see this tribute to Louise – it was clear from attending the evening that she was loved by so many. We would like thank Susan, Darren and Natalie for donating the money to our cancer services. It will make a huge difference.”
Louise leaves behind her partner and three children (Natalie, Matthew, Joel).
