Walsall Healthcare’s new maternity entrance

2024-05-15T11:00:07+01:00Wednesday 15 May 2024|

Walsall mums-to-be and families can now use a dedicated entrance for Maternity Services at the Manor Hospital.

The new maternity entrance is located by the Maternity Emergency entrance at the hospital.

The area is drop off only, no parking is allowed. This is due to the entrance being used for ambulance emergency access.

A new entrance was created following both feedback from parents as part of a 15 Steps Challenge and staff recognition of the patient journey to the maternity unit. The aim was to see where improvements could be made to the patients’ experience.

The 15 Steps Challenge is a method which looks at Maternity Services from the perspective of those who use them. It explores their first impressions of care, their surroundings and the overall experience.

Jo Wright, Director of Midwifery, Gynaecology and Sexual Health at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said:

“One of the driving factors for this decision was feedback received from the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP), women’s personal feedback and staff feedback which stated that the journey from the main entrance to the delivery suite was quite a distance. We hope that creating this access closer to Maternity departments benefits our patients, families and visitors.”
