Three loyal fundraisers took people back in time at an 80s disco event in aid of Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity.
Michael Gough, Craig Timmins and Barry Tipper raised £1,701 from the Kick up the 80s charity fundraiser held at Bloxwich Memorial club in October.
The money was split three ways with £566 going to Well Wishers, and the remaining funds donated to Cresswell Wanderers Football Club and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
More than 260 people attended the event, with many getting in the spirit and dressing up for the occasion.
This is the second fundraiser Michael, e-commerce Manager for Tile Choice in Walsall, and Craig, who owns CTS Fitness, have organised this year in support of Well Wishers.
In February the pair spent 24 hours walking, running and cycling in a charity cardio session which led them to raise an amazing total of £3,250.
This donation was used to create a new playroom at Walsall Manor Hospital.
The 41-year-old said: “We wanted to support the hospital again to give something back to the community.
“It was a great event. The atmosphere was fantastic and when I was looking around the room and saw how many people attended, I was so proud of what we did.
“Both Craig and I have a personal connection to the hospital, and we are both forever grateful for the care our loved ones have received there.
“This time the money raised will be going to the chemotherapy ward as Craig’s mum received chemotherapy there and the care she had was excellent. She has now had the all clear which is fantastic.
“My daughter was looked after at the Manor when she had sepsis not long after she was born. All the Doctors and Nurses were amazing, and this was our way to say thank you and give something back.”
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager, said: “We are so grateful for the ongoing support from Michael and Craig. They have already raised thousands of pounds for Well Wishers and helped provide the funds for a new playroom.
“Their continued fantastic efforts now mean we can look at other projects in the hospital and continue to improve the care provided to our patients and their families.
“Thank you again, we really appreciate your support.”
