A Gift a Gown appeal to help provide young patients with nightwear if they are admitted to Walsall Manor Hospital has been launched – with 100 sets already pledged.
The Patient Relations and Experience Team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has launched the autumn appeal for brand new pyjamas and gowns for boys and girls starting from 0-3 months up to the age of 16.
Garry Perry, Associate Director, Patient Relations and Experience at the Trust, said: “Following on from the engagement work we have been doing through our Little Voices project – where we’ve partnered with Pelsall Village School to work with its pupils to review our paediatric services – we identified the need for such an appeal.
“Children may be admitted to our hospital in an emergency and have no nightwear available, or they may be in need due to family difficulties such as financial pressures. Working with Little Voices has helped us all have a better understanding of how our young patients feel and what matters to them which is how the appeal came about.”
The Little Voices project recently won the Communicating Effectively accolade in The Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA). A finalist at the awards was so impressed at the initiative that she has pledged 100 sets via the Adoreum Network.
