Staff and patients at Walsall Manor Hospital have been treated to an Easter Sunday filled with fun and egg-citement thanks to the generosity of those in our communities.
An Easter Bunny, arranged through Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity, arrived to put a smile on the faces of our patients who are spending Easter away from their loved ones, as well as staff who are looking after them.
Ruby Doo Events, based in Staffordshire, is a children’s entertainment company which aims to “make dreams come true.” Entertainers Ellie-Jo and Venus, alongside entertainer and Easter Bunny Shona, did just that as they brought energy and positivity to the teams and departments they visited. From the Children’s Ward and Neonatal Unit, to the Discharge Lounge and Urgent and Emergency Care Centre – no staff member or patient was passed without them being offered a high five or a hug, and a sweet treat.
Generous donations from the public and local businesses meant that children in our care today, as well as their families, could be offered an Easter egg. Well Wishers also organised a large number of mini chocolate eggs, which were given out across the hospital by the Ruby Doo members and Lead Chaplain Edd Stock.
Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley said: “We wanted to make sure that our staff and patients were able to celebrate Easter this weekend, even if they are away from home.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without so many kind donations, and of course the wonderful Ruby Doo. Shona, Ellie-Jo and Venus brought magic and so much happiness to the hospital today, so I’d like to say a huge thank you to them.”
