Generous parkrunners have stepped up to support the staff foodbank at Walsall Manor Hospital.
Gary Jenkins, Event Director at Chasewater parkrun, contacted the Fundraising Team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust to say that the group wanted to collect donations.
And in a pacing event at the end of January, participants brought along a variety of items to boost the foodbank stocks.
Gary said: “We had to cancel the first run we intended to collect donations at because of icy conditions but we rescheduled and made sure people had a chance to donate things like tinned soup, squash, pasta and coffee.
“We wanted to support those who are finding it tough.”
Gary delivered the donations to the hospital’s Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley.
Georgie said: “Thank you so much to all the parkrunners who made a donation to us – it is greatly appreciated.
“We set up the staff foodbank in partnership with the Blessed2Bless Community Project.
“It is a confidential service for all staff affected by the current cost-of-living crisis who are struggling to buy food to support themselves and their families. These donations will help replenish our stock.”
