Fundraisers from Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity are starting a month-long roadshow today, visiting wards and departments across the Manor Hospital, community services and local supermarkets and finishing all aboard a Chatty Bus.
The charity’s Fundraising Team is hitting the road while its hub is refurbished and staff are looking forward to spreading the word about all the projects and events it is involved with as well as highlighting the ways people can get involved.
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager, said: “This is a golden opportunity for us to promote Well Wishers and explain the difference that donations are making to the people who use our services.
“Our Fundraising Hub in the hospital is closed until 11 April for the refurbishment work to be carried out and we want to make sure we’re still accessible and responsive during this time.
“As well as getting out and about across our own hospital and community services we will be popping up in supermarkets across the borough and are excited to close the roadshow while aboard Walsall Community Transport’s Chatty Bus which we are able to borrow for our engagement activity. We’ll announce the venues for bus stops shortly and hope people come and say hello!”
The charity raises money for items above and beyond what the NHS is able to provide. It is currently funding a £23,000 playroom revamp on the hospital’s Children’s Ward, thanks to donations, and launched a stroke rehabilitation garden appeal last year for Hollybank House in Willenhall.
The first few venues are as follows:
- Wednesday 1 March – Walsall Manor Hospital (Wards)
- Friday 3 March – Morrisons, Bescot
- Wednesday 8 March – Blakenall Village (AM), Walsall Palliative Care Centre (PM)
