From Judges Simon Cowell-ing with laughter to standing ovations from the audience, this year’s Walsall Healthcare Trust’s Got Talent had it all!
The show, organised through the Well Wishers charity, took place last Friday and featured nine acts made up of talented staff members.
Comperes Tom Johnson and Seb Smith-Cox were the hosts with the most and judges were Britain’s Got Talent’s very own star Eva Abley, Esther Waterhouse, Consultant in Palliative Medicine and Andy Tams, Undergraduate Medical Education Team Manager/Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
The acts were:
- Mike Bacallan – Singer
- Tim Crump – Pianist
- Dr Magic – Magic act
- Michael Koushi – Singer
- Tolly Tams and Jack – Band
- Words of Wonder – Comedy/Poetry
- Dr Max and the Planet – Singer
- Internal Furnace – Band
- ABC – Musical Performance
Taking home first place was Internal Furnace which consisted of Eleanor Mills, Specialist Nurse Practitioner, Sarah Griffin, Palliative Cancer Nurse Specialist and Zoe Christofferson, Family and Carer Support Officer from the End-of-Life Team. They won over the audience with their rendition of Tina Turner’s, Proud Mary.
Second place was ABC which consisted of Ben Malpass, Digital Communications Assistant, Aiden Justin, Patient Relations Support Officer and Conor Meehan, Resourcing Officer. They got everyone in fits of laughter with a scene from Ben’s Wyrley Pretenders’ Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime.
Third place went to Michael Koushi, Head of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering who sang Elvis Presley’s, Can’t Help Falling in Love. This was a very special performance as it was Michael’s last Trust’s Got Talent before leaving to start a new job. He has taken part in the show for five years.
The acts all won a cash prize kindly donated by the consultant’s body.
Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley said: “What a great night! Colleagues, family, friends, talent and Christmas all wrapped up together in one event and raising a fantastic amount of £930 for the charity.
Thank you to Unison Walsall Healthcare Branch for sponsoring our first ever prize trophy and a huge thank you to everyone who took part and came to support. We will see you again in 2023.”
