Well Wishers is hoping for a knockout night of fundraising with a corporate night of boxing – thanks to Tilbury Douglas Engineering.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s charity is one of two organisations to benefit from the charity black tie dinner event, which takes place on Thursday, September 29 in the Tower Suite at Drayton Manor Park, near Tamworth.

As well as a top night of quality boxing of around 15 bouts, guests will get the chance to meet and chat with former world champions Steve Collins and Richie Woodhall.

Well Wishers is one of the two chosen charities to benefit from the proceeds, along with The CornerPost Education Centre, an early intervention service in Tamworth for primary school aged children.

Tilbury Douglas are the main contractors for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s £40m new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre due to open later this year, and the two organisations have forged a close relationship over the course of the project.

The event has been organised by Regional Operations Manager for Tilbury Douglas Engineering, Tony Nicholls, and will see boxers from Tamworth Boxing Club and England pitted against each other. Tony is a coach for both the Tamworth club and at national level.

Tony said: “This is the first time we have had this type of show since before the COVID-19 pandemic and when we last held one, we sold out with 220 people attending.

“We’re hoping to attract a similar number again for what will be a tremendous evening’s entertainment, with some top class boxers on show, and are delighted that Well Wishers will be one of the beneficiaries.

“Being on site at Walsall Manor Hospital, we see the excellent work Well Wishers do on a daily basis, and we’re only too pleased to help them to help patients.”

Fundraising and Engagement Manager for Well Wishers, Georgie Westley said: “We’re delighted that Tilbury Douglas Engineering has selected Well Wishers as one of their chosen charities to benefit from what will be a tremendous night of boxing and thank Tony and his team very much for their support.”

Ringside tables for 10 people are available at £1,400 and a standard table of 10 will cost £1,000, with single tickets available at £100 each.

In addition, various sponsorship packages are available, for items such as the programme, tension banner, menu, vests and foyer presentation table.

For those who want to make a night of it, 50 hotel rooms have been secured at Drayton Manor on a first come, first served allocation basis, at a rate of £85 bed and breakfast per room, single occupancy and £95 bed and breakfast per room, double occupancy. Guests can book direct with reservations on 01827 285551.
