Walsall’s new Mayor has revealed the exciting news that Well Wishers is to be one of her chosen charities – to the delight of staff and patients at Walsall Manor Hospital and its community services.
Well Wishers is the charity for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and it raises money to buy items above and beyond what the NHS can provide. Some of its projects have included the creation of Lolly’s Place – a chill out room for teenage patients being treated on the Children’s Ward, the refurbishment of a sensory room at the Child Development Centre in Shelfield and helping dying patients to make special memories with their loved ones through its partnership with Goscote Hospice.
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager at the Trust, said: “We’re over the moon to have been chosen as one of the charities to benefit from the Mayor’s year.
“Well Wishers prides itself on being a charity that raises money to enhance healthcare services for the direct benefit of local patients and their families. Many of our appeals and projects have been shaped by their feedback and ideas as well as suggestions from our staff who are committed to improving the experience of everyone who uses our services in the hospital and community.
“We wish the Mayor all the best in her fundraising efforts and are sure the wonderful Walsall community will support her hard work.”
The Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Rose Martin said: “Home grown charities such as Well Wishers really do make a difference to our borough communities – a difference that they are truly part of – and I am proud to be associated with such a worthy cause.”
