Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has teamed up with Ultramed, winner of the “2019 Innovation Award for Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain”, to improve the way our patients access healthcare with an on-line surgical pre-operative assessment questionnaire starting from today.
MyPreOp (provided by Ultramed) is a tried and tested, user-friendly system which gives patients the ability to complete their pre-operative assessment from the comfort of their own home, following a website link and instructions which will be provided by the hospital (where applicable based on clinical requirements).
This will have benefits for both the patient with less time spent waiting in the hospital and less travel as well as the trust with increased efficiency when bringing patients into surgery and a reduction in waiting times.
Outpatients Matron Joan Dyer said: “MyPreOp allows patients to go online via their tablet, smartphone or laptop/computer to complete their pre-op assessment making it much easier for them to access.”
Charge Nurse Paul Forrester added: “It allows us as pre-op nurses to enable our service to be more patient centred. This is the future of pre-op”.
We will keep colleagues updated on progress made with this project over coming weeks and welcome all engagement through this process. This is another example of how we are using digital innovation to respond to the challenges and changes faced as a result of the Covid pandemic.
We are proud to be working with Ultramed and together we can reduce the need for face to face appointments and move to more paper light solutions around patient care.
