Well Wishers has started a new chapter in its fundraising story by now offering a book service to trust colleagues and patients.
Due to social distancing and visiting restrictions, patients, visitors and staff are currently unable to pop into the Purple Hub to buy books that help raise money for the charity.
The fundraising team has created a laminated booklist that can either be delivered to the ward or ward managers can receive an electronic version, both lists will be regularly updated. Staff and patients can then select a number of titles that they would like to purchase for a cost of 50p per book.
As soon as an order is fulfilled let the team know (details below) and staff can either collect preferences on behalf of their patients or the fundraising team can provide a drop off service. Staff purchases would need to be collected from the collection point outside the Purple Hub.
Ward 9 Matron, Claire Cooper said:
“I think giving patients the opportunity to purchase books in this way is brilliant. It really is a benefit and a great way to provide something stimulating for people who are currently staying with us.
“Also, being able to have the list sent electronically and the books brought up to us, is such a timesaver, as everyone is so busy, – it’s perfect.”
Would you like a book list for yourself or your ward then please contact the fundraising team.
Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley said: “Book sales from the Purple Hub helped us raise a lot of money prior to the pandemic and while this continues we need to look at new ways of keeping things going.
“This service benefits both staff and patients and can be offered safely for all.”
