Calderfields Golf and Country Club swung into action to raise an amazing amount of money towards Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Covid-19 fund.
When the lockdown officially began club President Tom Kennan ran competitions for club members as well as non-members. Everyone donated various amounts of money which, to his surprise, added up to an astonishing total of £1,400.
Tom said:
“We’re very happy to know the money will go towards something for the staff as we are all so thankful for what they have done and are currently still doing during Covid-19. It’s great that we get to support our local hospital too.
The money will go towards something chosen by staff. It could be a staff recognition or celebration event, it could be a feature in the hospital or its grounds. Staff will be asked to tell us what they would most appreciate.
Tom is already thinking of other ways that the Aldridge-based club can support staff in the future.
Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the public and are grateful to golf club members for their fantastic support.”
