Mums-to-be, new mums, women considering becoming mums and their families are being invited to come along to a Maternity Showcase event in Walsall later this month.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Maternity Services have been rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission and the event, on Tuesday 19 November between 1.30pm and 5pm, will highlight all the teams available to offer support before, during, and after pregnancy.
Pregnant women registered with all GP practices, regardless of address, are now able to give birth at Walsall Manor Hospital if they choose.
Walsall Maternity Services are also now accepting transfer bookings for any pregnant women who wish to give birth at Walsall Manor Hospital who are currently booked elsewhere. The Midwifery-Led Unit in Charles Street is also due to reopen for births as well as continuing to house a host of supportive antenatal, postnatal and perinatal mental health clinics.
The event is in partnership with Walsall League of Friends Maternity Shop volunteers who will be invaluable ambassadors as the trust works towards Baby Friendly accreditation over the coming months.
Delreita Ohai, Walsall Healthcare’s Director of Operations, Women’s Children’s and Clinical Support Services, said: “We’re delighted to be able to put on a Maternity Showcase event to engage with women and their families and show them all the improvements that we have made across our services – many of which have been shaped by feedback from our communities.
“On the day visitors will be able to meet our teams including the Wren team (Women requiring extra nurturing), the Wyndlow team implementing continuity of carer, our Health in Pregnancy team and Women’s Physiotherapy.
“We will also be sharing our ambition to support maternity and neonatal to transform the care that they provide to become Baby Friendly accredited. Our Health Visiting service is fully Baby Friendly accredited and this is an opportunity for people to find out more about how we can all work together to achieve our aim.
“There will be virtual tours of our MLU and delivery suite available to view on the day and we will be able to take bookings for delivery suite tours for a date to suit visitors.
The Maternity Showcase is being held in the area outside the antenatal clinic of Walsall Manor Hospital on route 122. Come and join us for a free cake and a cuppa as you to talk to our teams.
