Fundraising Manager Georgie has been bowled over by people’s kindness again this festive season. Donations of toys and presents have been turning up at the Purple Hub, where she’s based, every day for the last few weeks.
This year Georgie is going to come into work on Christmas day to see some of those goodies handed out across the wards of Walsall Manor Hospital.
She said: “All donations made to our Well Wishers charity are really appreciated throughout the year – the charity buys items above and beyond what the NHS can provide.
“We’ve had a great 2018 with a sensory room created at our Child Development Centre in Shelfield and a teenage chill out room created on Ward 21 – Lolly’s Place – in memory of teenager Lauren Wilkinson among just some of the highlights.
“At this time of year we have donations of presents from individuals, businesses and organisations and I want to come in and see for myself what a difference this makes to our patients on Christmas day. It can’t be easy having to be in hospital on 25 December but I know our staff do all they can to make things as merry as possible for all our patients.
“I’m lucky that I’m not working a full day like many of my colleagues and I’d like to thank them all for their support for Well Wishers over the last 12 months. I’d also like to thank all the people and businesses who’ve donated to Well Wishers and wish them a happy and healthy new year.”
