A talented teenager is helping to raise awareness of Organ Donation Week in Walsall after designing a series of posters to boost the campaign. Steven Hasketh, aged 13, has a real passion for biology and loves finding out about the services that are within Walsall Manor Hospital.
He met with Walsall healthcare NHS Trust’s Specialist Nurse for Organ Donation Kirsty Lazenby and the Trust’s Director of Governance Jenna Davies, who is Executive Lead for Organ Donation, to share his designs.
“I really liked doing this and made sure they all say “Words Save Lives,” said Steven, who has autism. “I know all the answers in biology – the teacher said I should teach the class instead of him!”
Kirsty said: “Steven’s posters are fantastic and we will display them in Walsall Manor Hospital as well as New Cross in Wolverhampton and Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
“He’s worked so hard on them and we hope people take the time to look at them and absorb the message that “Words Save Lives” as we raise awareness of the impact of organ donation and how lives can be transformed.”
